Sample Projects

Pappelbaum, Turner & Associates (PTA) has worked with a wide variety of healthcare clients from across the country. Our work is as varied as our clients.  Our primary focus has been to provide a strategic framework for successful change, especially involving physicians, physician groups, hospitals, and insurance companies.  We are guided by the fundamental belief that all healthcare organizations should strive to enhance patient access and increase the quality of care.

The scope of the projects with which PTA can assist includes:

  • Facilitation, negotiation and strategic planning to guide mergers and acquisitions

  • Assessment, diagnosis, and conflict resolution strategies for difficult organizational issues

  • Strategic planning to guide the successful recruitment of highly recognized physician specialists

  • Facilitation of retreats

  • Developing strategic and business plans for new programs and services

  • Building bridges between organizational and community stakeholders

  • Facilitating partnerships between large organizations through complex negotiations and relationship building

  • Program evaluation that answers the question "Is this program providing a return on our investment?"

  • Program evaluation that provides direction for policy and action

Examples of some of our projects:
  • Worked with a well-established physician sub-specialty practice to develop a strategic plan to re-energize the practice and to ensure appropriate and sustainable growth.

  • Developed a strategic plan to guide the merger between an independent sub-specialty physician practice and a large academic medical center.

  • Facilitated a strategic planning process for the development of a seamless pediatric delivery system in a metropolitan area of 3 million people. PTA were engaged to provide their expertise to a public sector client to facilitate the creation of an innovative pediatric model that combined medical, educational, and social service resources to ensure healthy children entering school ready to learn.
